About

Vashti Tyrrell is a freelance saxophonist based in Adelaide, South Australia. A versatile multi-instrumentalist, Vashti doubles on clarinet, bass-clarinet, flute and piccolo.

An award winning graduate of the Elder Conservatorium of Music jazz degree, Vashti spent many years working around the world as a musician with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, playing with many of the world’s best headliners.

Since returning to Adelaide in 2013, Vashti has kept busy playing with groups including the Adelaide Concert Orchestra, the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, The Adam Page Ensemble (TAPE) and the Adelaide Festival Centre Orchestra. She is a member of Royal Australian Navy Band (SA Detachment), the Mike Stewart Big Band and is equally at home in a high-pressure sight reading gig as much as a relaxed jazz quartet gig.

As an educator, Vashti currently teaches saxophone at Walford Anglican School for Girls. She has been on the faculty of the JazzSA/Adelaide University Jazz Camp for the past three years.
